Attire of Qashqai Nomadic Women 3
Kolahche
A kolahche is a small hat made from thick fabric that covers a large portion of the head. It is secured by a thin string that passes under the chin and buttons to the hat, ensuring a snug fit.
The kolahche is more commonly worn by older women, and to provide warmth, it is often lined. Due to its hemispherical shape, the center of the kolahche has gathers that create a small opening.
This hat is worn underneath a thin headscarf to conceal the hair. By wearing a kolahche, less dust can penetrate the hair. Since the hair of nomadic women is often long, wearing a kolahche after combing helps to keep it neat. The kolahche is an excellent protection against cold weather.
